The number of accessible archaeological sites in a relatively small area is unique. In Orkney’s West Mainland area, worth a special mention is the World Heritage Site which comprises Maeshowe, the Ring of Brodgar, the Standing Stones and Skara Brae, while in the East Mainland, attractions like the Tomb of the Eagles, Mine Howe and the Italian Chapel should not be missed.
In the centre of Kirkwall we have the imposing St Magnus Cathedrial which has been used as a place of worship since it was built until the present time.
